Building Opt-In List - Why You Should (Not) Buy Leads?

September 30, 2007 - 12:01 pm

Building Opt-In List is an essential part of Internet Marketing. Every successful marketer online has a personal list of subscribers and is using it to profit online. Building personal list may sound easy &ndash you just purchase an autoresponder service, create a few messages, place subscription form on your site and drive visitors to your subscription form.

Although these steps are very true and simple, unfortunately building list is not that easy. Someone inexperienced in web promotion will have difficulties in driving traffic necessary for building an opt-in list. Traffic can sometimes be a problem even for a more experienced people.

Getting enough traffic for list building is not the only problem. Many people overlook the importance of keeping constant contact with all members of your list. People tend to be forgetful and if you don’t contact them often, they can easily forget that they even subscribed to your list!

Therefore, to solve problem with traffic many people decide to simply buy leads. Buying leads can save a lot of time necessary for list building. They can also avoid the second problem by creating enough pre-written messages to keep up with their leads for a longer time, or they can use broadcast option often. The idea of buying leads is great and many marketers are using this method, but there is a catch.

Many people don’t like the idea of their e-mail, or other contact info being sold. And once when they subscribed, there probably was a privacy statement saying that their contact information is safe and will never be rented, sold, or used for any purpose whatsoever. It is possible though that they were lied to, or tricked. Subscription forms without privacy statement have a lot lower conversion rates and very often these subscribers are not very responsive.

Other very important reason why leads shouldn’t be bought is because you can never be really sure if you are purchasing a safelist. People willing to profit quickly can easily sell blacklists. They use spam robots to collect as many e-mails as they can online, but instead of sending spam, they decide to earn some money by selling those e-mails. This is even worse because marketer who purchased this list will be accused of spam! Although this probably won’t happen since leads are not just e-mail addresses but also names and other contact info, it is possible!

A successful Internet marketer knows a true value of responsive leads and will not sell them. He has worked hard in building his list and creating a certain relationship with all members of that list. It isn’t likely that he will risk his reputation and trust by selling a responsive list. It is more likely that you will get a non responsive list of leads.

On the other hand it is possible that these leads are fully aware of selling and that they agree with it. In that case buying leads is ok, but you never really know…

If you are interested in buying leads, always use your due diligence whenever you come across some lead selling offer. Make sure you are buying opt-in leads (double opt-ins are even better) and that all of them are aware of a new list owner. If you are not sure of the latter, approach your new leads carefully and even consider asking them to confirm their subscription again. You can lose some leads this way, but it’s much better than to risk spam accusations.

Building Community Websites Equals Success Online

September 29, 2007 - 4:35 pm

In this article I will discuss how important is it to build community websites rather than straight forward sales pitches. Selling online is about bringing people together, not about stuffing products down your visitors throwts and expecting them to buy from you.

We have conditioned our minds all of our lives to accept advertising billboards, radio ads, newspaper ads, commercials, and all sorts of other advertising materials wherever we go. The same applies on the internet. This “conditioning” has enabled us to see past all the ads and look directly for the pertinant information that we are seeking.

People who are new to the internet are more likely to click on your ads for no apparent reason but to simply search and keep searching. Others that have beed online for years now, tend not to pay attention to as many ads on a daily basis like they used to.

If you are serious about making money online without having to spend too much of your budget, create a “community online”. It is in our nature as human beings to want to belong, or to be involved within a community setting. Communities come in all shapes & sizes and are not limited to gender, race, nationality, or religion. A community can cater to whatever topic you wish and welcome whomever you desire.

Same concept applies to your website!

Building a community within your website is the key to increasing your business, keeping visitors coming back, and keeping your advertising budget in the bank. Show your visitors that you aren’t just here on the internet to sell them something. For example, we (Smartads), we are here to teach what we know about internet marketing. By teaching, we too learn more, gain more business, and attract new visitors.

RESIDUAL TRAFFIC IS THE KEY!

As i’ve always mentioned to my clients & readers, getting people to your website is the easy part. Anyone with a $500 credit card can get traffic to their website, it’s keeping them there and getting your visitors to come back on their own time is what makes owning a website a dificult proposition.

Visitors always come back to communities they can relate to!

I always to go back to internet marketing communities online like:

.webpronews.com

.sitepronews.com

.searchenginewatch.com

and so on… There are many internet marketing resources available for business owners. We are fortunate to have access to the vast amount of resources that we do, in order to increase our business & to increase our knowledge.

More resources online also increases competition. There are literally millions of websites out there and many of them might possibly be your competitors. Without building a community, people won’t remember who you are, or what it is that you do. Infact, if you are spending all of your money on banner ads, pay per click advertising, affiliates, and other marketing areas online, and at the same time you aren’t paying attention to increasing your home base, when your advertising budget runs out so too will the bulk of your traffic.

If your website isn’t good enough, your sales won’t be good enough. Granted; building a website can be very time consuming but just remember that you don’t need to create an empire over night. Just a little here, a little there, and before you know it, it all adds up to something you can be proud of. Over time, your website traffic will constantly be increasing.

PLEASE NOTE: If you stop advertising, your traffic won’t grow. Growing your website is all part of the whole plan.

What do we need to create a community website?

You always want to add extras to your site that interest you. By doing so, you will also attract people with similar interests and help to bridge the credibility gap online.

You can always add these to your website:

* Personal blog

* Helpful tips

* Mini-ebook courses (on how to be a better client for you)

* Other people’s articles

* Chat forum (requires a lot of maintenance & promotion)

* Free business directory listings

* Family albums for users

* Fun online questionnaires

* Mind benders

* Games

* Contests (with actual prizes)

* “How to” articles

* Government resources

* Local community resources

* Support local companies & vice versa

I think we can now get a sense of what building a “community” website means. The key is to take your industry (even if it is boring), and teach someone about what it is that you do. The internet allows us to take in more information than we could ever imagine. There is always someone out there who wants to learn about your industry.

The key is to add on a little at a time. Talk to your web designer. Try and find unique little ways to build a community website online. Ask people what they look for within your industry. After time, you will know what it takes to keep creating more for your company online, and your wallet will love you for it.

Just remember the more you build, the less your advertising budget will be when you get there. Just keep it up until you get there, don’t give up on yourself, your company, or your future.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this article!

The thought of building a web page may be a daunting one, however they are quite easy to build and do not have to be expensive. There are many free editors online that make great web pages, and within a couple of hours anyone can have a professional looking website.

Once a website is designed it needs to be uploaded to the internet, but first a domain name must be purchased Domain names also comes cheap but make sure to buy one that best describes the sort of products you are selling. It is also a good idea to buy a .com they are the most popular or a .net it sometimes pays to buy both saving anyone else trying to copy your name.

The only thing left is a Hosting company, for a small monthly fee this company will store your website on their server, which basically is a large computer that will display your site as and when people request it by typing in your domain name in a browser. Build Your Online Database With Bonus Giveaways

September 29, 2007 - 9:52 am

Anyone who depends on building a database with online subscribers knows this is becoming more difficult by the day. Primarily, the competition for the consumer’s attention is fierce. Today’s consumer has become much more demanding and savvy when it comes to buying products online or signing up for “stuff.”

Smart marketers realize the power and profit that comes from a strong alliance through joint venturing. JV’s can be one of the smartest marketing moves any online marketer can make.

Something that has become very popular in recent months is where one person or company sweetens the offer of the product they are selling with lots of bonuses. The bonuses can be their own information products or those of others who understand the benefits of this type of campaign. Of course, there is no charge for the bonus products.

There are two primary ways to participate in a JV of this nature. One is to simply give the PDF file to the person who is selling a product. The seller gives the PDF directly to the buyer. The advantage to this is your bonus product gets seen by others. The disadvantage is you don’t get access to the buyer’s contact information.

The other option is to require anyone who buys a product to go to a link provided by the bonus giver. The link is connected to a page with a form that the consumer fills out. They must leave their name and at a minimum, their email address before they can download the bonus.

When offered the opportunity to partner with other online marketers I usually jump at the chance. However, I the campaign I am most likely to join in on is the one where people sign up to get my bonus. Additionally, I do all I can to make sure the person I partner with is reputable.

Here are the primary benefits to participating in a joint venture.

- Expanded market reach

- Gain name recognition within that market

- Increase credibility through name association

- Build a database with minimal effort

- Create incredible value for the consumer

If you are looking for ways to increase your database, reach, credibility and visibility while providing more value to your market, consider joining forces with other progressive thinking entrepreneurs. It could be one of the smartest business moves you make.

By taking steps now to increase the targeted traffic to your website, you will gain phenomenal future possibilities such as joint ventures and launching new business ideas with instant success.

For many small business site owners, the goal of reaching the Top 10 search results for your favored keyword phrases usually starts and ends with Meta tag optimization, and reciprocal link building.

Of course, the more competitive your business area is on the web, the harder it will be to conquer the first page of Google. One of the best ways to get this reciprocal link traffic is to advertise.

To get started with your own link exchange program, begin with finding several link directories and websites within a similar niche as your own. This can be a daunting task, but to make it easier, you can use an automated reciprocal link manager program that will allow you to make and receive link requests in a fraction of the time.

Through their Links Exchange Program, webmasters can add a link back to their website and benefit from the most basic, yet effective, forms of reference on the internet.

By providing relevant content on your website and running an active reciprocal linking program, you can increase your search engine ranking tremendously. There are several well-known websites where you can check your link popularity among the search engines.

Here, you can just enter your site domain and LinkPopularity.com will surf the web for you and generate a report of where your site is mentioned throughout the Internet.

By driving traffic to your site through advertising and well placed links, your website will be able to generate and support future passive income through joint ventures with other companies wishing to benefit from your success.

Work to increase your link popularity today and check your link popularity regularly as a measure of your success.

Boost Your Traffic and Adsense Profits with Content

September 25, 2007 - 1:55 pm

Are you aware of how vitally important and valuable CONTENT is to your online business and adsense site? In fact, content can do more to build your business and adsense profits than just about any other resource or service available.

Following is a list of 5 key ways that content can help build your traffic, adsense profits, subscribers, and customers starting today!…

1. Boost your search engine ranking and daily visitor count by posting keyword rich articles and content on your web-site. For example, if your business involves offering information and services related to adsense, posting adsense related articles and content will attract unlimited prospective customers on a regular basis!

2. Generate double or even triple the number of newsletter subscribers you do currently, simply by offering content in the form of “special reports” or manuals as bonuses for subscribing to your publication. People love freebies, so give them what they want and watch as your results increase!

3. Create an automated cash flow by using content to formulate multi-part email training courses with related web-site or affiliate links “sprinkled” throughout each course. Use an autoresponder service to automate the delivery of your training course (such as a 5 part training course delivered over a 5 day period).

Training courses can also serve as excellent bonus offers for your prospective newsletter subscribers.

4. One of the most important keys to a successful online business is not JUST having a mailing list or newsletter subscribers… It’s about building a trusting relationship with your subscribers. By sending informative articles (content) to your list on a regular basis you will establish yourself as an expert on your topic of business, as well as gain the trust of your subscribers over time. As a result, your subscribers will be EAGER to take advantage of your “paid” product and service offers. (Just make sure that you NEVER take advantage of the relationship you develop with your list by offering products or services of poor quality just to make a quick buck!)

If there is one “constant” in Internet marketing, it’s this: A cultivated list of subscribers is as good as money in the bank. Write that down and never forget it!

5. Another excellent way to generate no cost traffic is by submitting ready-made articles to “content hungry” web-site and newsletter publishers with your “resource box” attached. A resource box is nothing more than a little 3-6 line “bio” about you and/or your web-site - including a link to your site (or even instructions on how to subscribe to your newsletter)…

When submitting or offering your article(s) for reprint purposes, just make sure to specify that each article is to be reprinted “as is” with your resource box attached.

…Even one article can go a LONG way towards generating no cost traffic and visitors for you. Just imagine your article being sent out to a newsletter subscriber base of 100,000 individuals - many of whom will be reading YOUR included resource box and clicking on your URL to learn more about what you have to offer!

Well there you have it, 5 sure ways to build your online business exponentially with the help of articles and content…

With the declining effectiveness of many of the online advertising methods that we’ve relied on in past years, content is only strengthening its position as the ultimate KEY to generating unlimited traffic, adsense profits, subscribers, and customers!

Best Online Marketing Techniques

September 23, 2007 - 8:20 am

I have been in internet marketing for over ten years and have seen marketing techniques come and go. Some are still around and some are new and innovative. Below you will find what I believe to be the best and most effective online marketing techniques.

Article Marketing - Article marketing was and is one of the most powerful online marketing methods available. Not only does it do wonders for you and your business, it is free as well!

Article marketing consists of writing helpful, informative, easy to understand articles that actually help your readers, not try to sell them something. Then you submit them to article banks, directories and ezine publishers. When your article runs in a popular ezine, it can do great things for your business. Writing articles is not as hard as you might think so give it a try. You will be delightfully surprised at how much it can affect your business.

Remember:

Don’t worry about fancy words. People are looking for help, not big words.

Advertise in your resource box, not your article.

Provide real, helpful info and resources, hot hype!

Write from the heart! Let your personality shine through in your articles.

Blogging - Blogging is a newer form of online marketing that just started becoming popular in the late 90’s. Blog is short for weblog and means an online publication in the form of a log or journal. Blogs can increase your customer base, your traffic and your search engine ranking, thus increasing your sales.

Blogging can be done for free through such sites as:

blogger.com

wordpress.com

and livejournal.com

Be sure and update your blog regularly; everyday would be best as people like fresh content, ideas and information.

Ezine Publishing - Ezine publishing has been around much longer than blogging and is far more effective, in my opinion. Your ezine needs to contain helpful resources and information, not just sales pitches. Develop a relationship with your readers. Let them know they can trust you and rely on you when they need your help.

Things to remember when putting together your ezine:

Keep it clean and easy to read.

Limit your advertising and be selective.

Always provide quality content and information.

Add your personality so your readers can get to know you.

Always provide contact info and be accessible.

Be consistent; send your ezine regularly as scheduled.

Be sure and proofread before sending it out.

Online Networking - Online networking, as with offline networking, is very important to your business. This is when you connect with as many people as possible to learn more and share more about your business. Many leads can come from networking. There are several ways to do this online.

Email Discussion Groups: Go to yahoogroups.com and search for appropriate groups.

Message Boards: Be sure and follow the rules for posting and offer your help as much as possible.

Social Sites: Such as MySpace.com, Ryze, Merchant Circle, etc. These can be great ways to make more contacts and get leads.

Joint Ventures - This is when you enter into an agreement with another online marketer that will benefit both sides.

Examples of joint ventures:

Ezine Ad Swaps

eBook Ad Swaps

Subscription Page Ad Swaps

Affiliate Programs

Exchange Advertising for % of Sales

and the list goes on and on. Be creative and come up with new ways you and your associates can help each other.

Podcasting - Podcasting is using digital media files which are distributed all over the internet via syndication feeds. Podcasting is still a fairly new way of online marketing and has great potential. Podcasting can be powerful because it uses voice not written words to get the message across. Offer your articles, do voice interviews, offer a chapter in your ebook via podcast, etc. Again, use your imagination to create new ways to spread the word about your business.

Ezine Advertising - Advertising your business, product, service, etc. in quality ezines can be well worth the money spent. There are a few things you can to to help you choose which ezines to advertise in.

Do a search to find ezines that cater to your target market. For example: if you are advertising kids’ books, you don’t want to advertise in an ezine about cars.

Once you find several targeted ezines, subscribe to them so you can look them over and see if the publisher is reliable in sending them out. You can also look over the other ads and make sure the publisher is selective in their advertising. You can possibly learn what the other readers think of the ezine as well.

Try contacting the publisher to see if they respond to your email. Ask about testimonials from other advertisers. Find out how many ads they run per issue and what the costs are.

You could also ask the publisher to do an ad swap to get an idea of what the response is like. Be selective in your choices and always code your ads so you know which ezines actually deliver.

I hope this article has given you some insight as to how to market your home/online business. I use several of these methods (and should be using the rest) and know from experience that they work!

The possibilities with the internet are endless and we need to keep up with new and innovative ways of marketing ourselves and our business. And we need to keep using tried and true methods as well.

Autoresponder Magic

September 22, 2007 - 12:50 pm

Brian Campbell, best selling author and successful internet marketer taught me the first commandment of internet marketing, “You cannot promote anything online without first capturing the email address of your website visitors.” Otherwise, your most valuable asset (visitors, traffic) passes right on by, without you even knowing who they were and giving you no way to follow up with them to get them back to your website.

Most people visiting a new site have no intention of buying anything. They are usually casually surfing for information and happen to find your site. Unless they are totally impulsive, they will leave your site without buying anything. You see your site visitor counter increase everyday, but wonder why your sales are not increasing at the same rate. Here’s the answer. On average, it takes seven exposures to one product or new idea before a person will buy in. So you need to have a way to systematically follow up with your website visitors and at the same time build your most valuable asset, an email list that you can market to over and over again.

How would you like an automated salesperson working for your site 24 hours a day seven days a week? This salesperson never gets sick, is always available to greet your customers and does not take a “no” personally. They continue to follow up with your prospects just as you instructed them until the prospect opts out, but continually adds new prospects to your database without any trouble. The magic tool to accomplish this is called an autoresponder.

An autoresponder is an account that you subscribe to that captures and manages an email database collected from the traffic of your website. When you log into your autoresponder account, you can generate a sign-up form that will capture the name and email address and any other pertinent information you want to collect from your website visitors. You can then set up a campaign, a predetermined set of emails that you create and design with the purpose of getting the visitors back to your website and to buy your products or services.

Autoresponders can be used for other valuable and important purposes too. You can offer a free newsletter or a mini course promoting different aspects to your site. By offering something of value and at no cost, more people are willing to give you their email address. Once you have developed an email list, you can send a broadcast message to the entire list at the same time with a special promotion from your website or a joint venture with another internet marketer. Thousands have been made over one weekend with this kind of special promotion. The possibilities are endless, but have to have the system in place for it to work.

Where can you get an autoresponder program? There are scripts available that you can upload to your site but I would stay away from these. It is best to use an online service with a third party service. Where can you find one? A quick autoresponder Google search will provide you with many options. Most autoresponder sites will charge you a monthly fee and will allow you to run multiple campaigns and websites. The fees can range from free to as much as you are willing to pay for, depending on the services you need. However, I have found a very reliable autoresponder that you can test drive for free. You can try it out and learn how to work it with the basics you need to run a successful campaign. As your needs grow, they do have upgrade options you can subscribe to for a reasonable monthly fee to expand your service options. You can find this service at Getresponse.com.

If you are currently not using an autoresponder on your website, you are potentially missing out on thousands of dollars in potential sales. Don’t miss out on any more sales! I strongly urge you to get an autoresponder set up today.

To Your Success!

Benefits of Submitting to a Directory Website

September 20, 2007 - 7:48 pm

A web directory is cyber yellow pages. It has different categories under which one can locate relevant information. Online businesses increase profitability, web traffic, and search engine ranking by submitting websites to directories.

Submitting to web directories is to broaden your horizons.

There are many benefits:

• Most directories attract considerable traffic. Surfers access specific categories of interest to them and open websites within the category. By default, the website submitted by you will get “click through traffic.”

• Spiders released by search engines will add your site to search engine indexes. And, links from directory pages are automatically indexed.

• Higher rankings on the search engine page for key words optimizing the website. Ensure that the anchor text linking the directory to your website has a phrase that identifies or states clearly the functions offered by your website. This will provide: higher click through ratings; better rankings in search engines; a greater number of links enabled by variations in key phrases.

• Increased number of links to your web page. Surfers will find links to your website, as being in a directory means receiving many back links. The more the number of links the higher a search engine ranking and the greater the number of viewers or users or clients.

• Enhanced credibility. Being a part of a quality directory means that you website has been through stringent vetting standards and reviews. Internet surfers are aware that only websites of high standards are listed in a directory. Websites listed in directories with credibility means these are the sites of choice and, they are guaranteed excellent content as well as services.

• A niche directory that is specific to your business will direct potential customers quickly and efficiently. The cost of submission can be quickly recovered.

• Provide simple links with a high PR category pages and few or minimal outgoing links. This ensures maximized popularity links to your site, boosting rankings.

Be prudent in your choices:

• Limit the number of directory submissions.

• Submit to all established free niche directories and just a few selected paid submission directories.

• Make use of sponsored links to jump start traffic to your site.

• Find out whether the directory uses keywords or uses an editorial approach using editorial ratings.

• Discover what sponsored listings signify. These are always listed first.

• Figure out whether the directory has alphabetical ordering or a first come basis.

• After inclusion in directories of standing, get listings in search engines with site rankings.

Do your homework, make wise choices. Experts recommend selecting niche sites as well as giants like Yahoo and DMOZ. Study thoroughly the comprehensive guidelines provided by directories. Think out and plan your marketing strategy and targets. Random submissions must never be made. You must achieve a ROI, return of investment.
