Directory Submission

If you’re anything like me, you spend hours a week submitting your website to directories, and writing emails to exchange links. And, if you’re like me, you hate every second of it and you look for an easy way out at every turn.

Unfortunately, there is no real easy way out – especially if you want to do it right, but I do have a couple of ideas to make your submission and exchange life easier.

There is nothing like spending an afternoon finding directories, finding your specific category and then submitting your website. It’s a lot of work before you even get to the submission process, and by then exhaustion sets in, not to mention being frustrated

by the whole process.

There are any numbers of directory lists out there, but info.vilesilencer.com/main.php?rock=seo-friendly.php keeps a close watch on a couple of hundred directories. He maintains an Excel spreadsheet of general and niche directories (some paid, some free) that you can download and use to keep track of your directory submissions. All directories are SEO friendly. This method is manual. Submission services are also offered.

At 4th-media.com/submission you create a profile on the 4th Media website with your website details: Title, URL, and Description. If paid, you can have up to 10 different descriptions for a particular site. He offers several packages: free: do it yourself, paid: do it yourself, and they also have a submission service. There are mostly paid directories, some are free, and most are seo-friendly.

A third directory submission solution, and my favorite, is the Directory Submitter – https:paydotcom.com/r/2976/flaservice1/208701/

I found the Directory Submitter after using the above 2 solutions (and I still use them) but I just needed something to give me a feeling of accomplishment, so I started looking for an automated solution. I came across several but was unhappy with my results.

I found the Directory Submitter, checked out the trial version and decided to spend the money on the full version. It was money well spent.

The Directory Submitter works right from your desktop and is super easy to use. The hardest part is loading your profiles. Once you’ve done this, and then you are good to go. Like any software, you do have to get used to it, but this doesn’t take long, and then you’ll fly through submissions. On my second night using the software, I submitted a website to 30 directories. I was truly impressed. It normally takes me weeks get through 10 submissions.

The Directory Submitter isn’t completely automated: sorry folks, but it won’t do it all. You still have to decide the best category your site belongs in, you’ll still need to manually type in any “captcha” images you come across. With any method of directory submission you use, you should always read the submission guidelines, for a better chance of being accepted.

Developing an E-Mail Newsletter

The creation of a newsletter is a serious decision because initiating one without the infrastructure and commitment to sustain it can wind up doing more harm than good. Your e-mail newsletter, once launched, will create an expectation among recipients and if you fail to deliver on that expectation it could lead to a backlash as your customers cll your reliability or commitment into question. The infrastructure you need includes content sources, graphic sources, and the e-mail capacity to send the newsletter. The commitment is eased when you create a timetable that details when the content needs to be concluded, when the graphics need to be completed, and when the newsletter needs to be edited and then ultimately sent. In choosing your send date, you need to think about the other newsletters your readers are likely to receive and make sure that you do not become just one more newsletter in their inboxes. We recommend you send it during a time of the month when there is traditionally less traffic. For example, Tudog sends its e-mail newsletter at the end of each month because most of our competing newsletters are sent either at the beginning or middle of the month. We have found that this increases our readership by approximately 20%.

The construction of a successful newsletter has 6 phases. They are:

1. Content

The newsletter you send stands or falls on the relevance and quality of the content you incorporate. If your website is meant to entertain you content needs to be entertaining. If it is meant to educate, your content better be educational. Tudog does not believe in using the newsletter for self-promotional purposes, as we think that readers rapidly grow tired of reading commercials and self-serving material. There are other forums to engage in self-promotion. Your newsletter is a service to your customers and needs to be written from the perspective of what they need, and not from the view of how it can serve you. By having your newsletter serve your customers, it will ultimately serve you too.

2. Frequency

You need to decide how often you are going to issue your newsletter. There are two primary considerations that need to make up the decision. The first is how often your customer base would engage you newsletter. If your sector is flooded with newsletters, you may conclude that there is an excess of reading material and that a quarterly newsletter is appropriate. Conversely, you may notice that there is both an absence of other newsletters and a hunger for information, leading you to conclude that a bi-weekly newsletter would provide you with an excellent opportunity. The second consideration is your internal capacity. You do not want to create an expectation for a newsletter that exceeds your production capacity. How many newsletters you are able to release each month needs to be the underlying driver to the decision how often your newsletter is released.

3. Design

How your newsletter looks is crucial not only because it represents your company, but also because it could determine how people receive the newsletter and whether or not they are drawn to read it. A well designed newsletter includes a clear delineation of all areas of content, integrated, relevant images, and an identity that is consistent with your company’s identity. It is important that you view your newsletter as an extension of your company and that its personality is representative of the image you transmit to your sector.

4. Database

Your database is the list of people to whom you send your newsletter. Your list should be extracted from your client/customer base, prospective clients/customers, and your sector influencers. You should make sure that everyone receiving your e-mail newsletter either requested it or has a way to be removed from your list (clearly and easily marked in your e-mail). Your newsletter can be sent via snail mail, but the costs of printing and postage make e-mail a much more realistic and cost effective often. Using e-mail, you are able to send your newsletter as HTML, text, or in PDF format. You should select your format based on customer preferences. Tudog uses PDF after our inquiries indicated that our clients were most interested in receiving our newsletter in that format. You clients/customers may prefer a different format, but it should be noted that the content, design, and frequency are not influenced by format.

5. Marketing

Your newsletter needs marketing support so that it can reach out to a wider audience and better serve your company as a marketing tool. The support it receives can be as simple as being listed on your website (with a sign-up option) to advertising and special attention. Tudog markets its website by permitted reprints of our articles in magazines and other newsletters, drawing attention to the company, our expertise, and that our newsletter offers continuing exposure to the ideas and hints we publish.

6. Testing

We recommend that you test your newsletter before you send it out to your widest audience so that you can benefit from the feedback of your test group and ultimately send out the best newsletter possible. You should select a random group of people (between 50-200) to send your newsletter to, alongside a brief questionnaire asking for reviews on your look and content. Once you have their responses and incorporate some of their comments, you will know your newer version is close to the needs and wants of your target market.

Your e-mail newsletter is an excellent way to reach out to and become meaningful to your clients/customers. Embark on an e-mail newsletter only if you have the resources and commitment to sustain it. Done properly, it is a powerful and continuing tool for exposure and reinforcement of your expertise.

Do You Need to Learn Computer Programming To Be A Successful Internet Marketer?

The answer to the question, ‘Do I need to learn programming?’ is:

It depends. It depends on what exactly you mean by programming.

You need to know a little bit of web programming like HTML and

Javascript so that you do not need to depend on someone else for

additions and editing your work (if you intend to build your own

website). Those two languages are some of the basics that

everyone should know.

If you’re referring to software programming then the answer is:

No you do not need to learn programming. You do not need to learn

it to get ahead as it is usually the concept or the idea which

can make you money and not a programming tool or language.

Further, the world is getting more and more specialized. In order

stay in tune with it, you need to find your niche and build with

it. Nobody can be good at everything. It’s about delegation.

Unless you plan to become a professional programmer, and getting

a formal education for it, leave development up to other

experienced developers.

Additionally, from a practical standpoint, it is dangerous for

everyone to try to do web programming. Some of the coding, for

example one of the variables the tell-a-friend script pulls from

the form is openly included in the message it sends out. The

problem with that is if someone who knows what they’re doing,

with regard to programming gets a hold of it, they could easily

recode the tell-a-friend form into an open spam relay. It is a

script with a major hole just sitting there waiting to be

exploited. That’s the risk you run when you don’t understand the

ramifications of every line of code. If you do not have the time

or desire to learn serious coding, and some basic code security

techniques, you will only make life harder for other netizens and

in the end, for yourself.

So unless you plan to become a professional programmer and take

the time to study these things, there’s really no need to learn

programming. Rather, hire someone who is a professional and let

them do the work for you. Finding a professional programmer is

easy too. All you need to do is visit .rentacoder.com

and put out a bid for your project. You’ll get programmers from

all over the world quoting on your project. Entrepreneurs use

them all the time and have wonderful results. Hiring someone is

not only far more effective, but it leverages your role as the

project manager and takes you out of the creator mindset.

Different ways to promote your business using Internet

If you work on your own, this article is for you. Whether you provide services or have your own store, you know you need to make yourself known by potential customers. The great question is how to do it. You probably don’t have tons of money to invest in publicity. Besides, not all forms of publicity are the right choice for all businesses. The right publicity for you depends on the characteristics of your business. In this article we will explore how you can take advantage of the web to draw customers to your business.

The first thing you need to get is your own website. This can be a simple website, just telling visitors what you do and allowing them to contact you, either by email, phone or by filling in a form. It is important that your site has a nice design according to your occupation, because it will provide the first impression users will have of your business. You may contact a web designer to develop your site. If you do it yourself, pay attention to the styles, colors and layout you use. Some hints:

• neat pages look better than over crowded ones

• use colors to highlight phrases or areas you want users to pay special attention to

• the site navigation (menus) must be easy to understand and use by all users

• keep in mind that people use different browsers, and if possible, view your site with two or three browsers to check how it looks.

• design your site to be search engine friendly. You will need search engines to direct traffic to your site, so you need them to be able to index it.

Once you have your website, it becomes the Internet branch of your business. That’s the beginning of your Internet presence. Now you need to register it in search engines and directories so users can find it. You will find global directories like DMOZ (.dmoz.org) and there may be also industry-specific directories where you can register your business. Search for directories in the major search engines and register your site in as many directories as you can. Inclusion in some search engines and directories is paid, it’s then up to you to decide whether it will be a good idea or not to pay for it. It depends on your business, on whether your market is highly competitive or not, and of course it depends on whether you can afford it or not.

Next step is to generate backlinks to your site. It means to get other sites to link to your site. This helps your site get a better page rank in search engines, and also exposes your site to more people. In certain cases, link-exchange programs may be helpful. You have already created some backlinks by adding your site to the search engines and directories. Now, you have other ways to add more backlinks:

• write articles about your field of expertise and post them in article directories, including the url to your business and a brief but tempting explanation of what you do in the resource box.

• post in forums related to your field of expertise, trying to be helpful to others so people see you know what you do. Include your url in your signature. Don’t spam the forums, that won’t look good at all. Just post when you really have something useful to say.

Another way to promote your business is to offer a periodic newsletter in your website. This way you send an email including interesting and useful information to your subscribers, once a week, or once a month, for example. If they really like it, they will refer other people to it thus making your subscriber base grow.

You can also promote your business every time you send an email. Just add your url in your signature. This way, every person to whom you send an email will also have a link to your website.

There are also pay-per-click advertising programs in the web, major search engines like Google and Yahoo offer them. In these programs, you publish an ad, and search engines display it. You pay when someone clicks on the ad to be directed to your site. If you decide to use these programs, you need to experiment with them to get the best benefit with low cost.

Last, but not least: you need to add content to your site periodically, so visitors come back and search engines rank your site better. Both people and search engines like sites with useful up-to-date content.

Developing a growing business

Many people crave to develop a growing business. Unfortunately, few people can

actually develop one successfully. You see, many people, just like you, start off

but get distracted by not being able to have a vehicle for success.

I’d suggest that you look at some of the leverage factors for the internet.

Leverage Factor #1 – A successful business model.

If you have not built your own business model, you should adopt one from someone

else. For instance, marketing using network marketing, affiliate marketing and so on

are useful, but you need to have a program that allows you to derive multiple

streams of income all at one go.

If you don’t already have a business online, or are just interested in looking for

someone to provide you one, you might want to explore this one at

.MySuccessCollection.com.

Leverage Factor #2 – Learning and expertise.

To build a bigger base, you definitely need to increase your knowledge. With the

right kind of knowledge, you will find that you become more credible and people get

attracted to you directly. If you had a database of thousands of hours of a learning

library, I think you’d skew the chances to your favor, don’t you think? I’ve

discovered that it’s the learner with the right attitude who actually is able to

master the skills necessary to grow the business.

Leverage Factor #3 – Teams and collective effort.

Let’s face it – nobody really succeeds on their own. There’s really no such thing as

a self-made millionaire – only a team-made one. IF you want to leverage, you have to

find not just the team, but the way to build the team up effectively. I suppose you

might want to be a leader as well, and that takes #2 – your learning. Over time, an

effective and growing business could be in your hands.

Develop Your Adsense Income!

One layout that worked well for the majority is the Large Rectangle (336X280). Why choose this format out of the many you can use? On the whole because the ads will look like regular web links, and people, being used to clicking on them, click these types of links.

Construct a custom palette for your ads. Choose a colour that will go well with the background of your site. If your site has a white background, attempt to use white as the colour of your ad border and background. The idea to patterning the colours is to make the Adsense look like it is part of the web pages. This will result to more clicks from people visiting your site.

Get rid of the Adsense from the bottom pages of your site and put them at the top. Don’t try to hide your Adsense. Put them in the place where people can see them fast. Preserve links to relevant websites. If you think some sites are better off than the others, put your ads there and try maintaining and managing them. If there is already lots of Adsense put into that certain site, put yours on top of all of them. That way visitor will see your ads first upon browsing into that site.

There are many other Adsense sharing the same topic as you. It’s best to think of making a good ad that will be a bit different and distinctive than the ones already done. Every clickthrough that visitors make is a point for you so make every click count by making your Adsense something that people will click on.

If you’ve been struggling trying to make a respectable amount of money from AdSense, you don’t have to put up with any more watch the step-by-step videos here: .lionel1.com/

Deep Thoughts On Internet Promotion

I have this friend Sloan. He’s a real lunatic. I’ve never met anyone who could pole dance without a pole. But when he’s not shaming himself and his entire family tree he is truly the smartest person I know. Perhaps to you that seems as if I might not be saying much. But, don’t take a cue from my spaciness as indicative of the company I keep. I’ve got a couple razor sharps in my crew for sure.

But, about Sloan, I remember one time we were talking about the U.S. in Iraq. It’s a complex subject, to be certain, but Sloan thinks that if you’re going to consider it you need to put it into context, including historical. I couldn’t agree more. Before I knew it, his historical context began with fractured substrata of the Persian Empire and I had three thousand years of history to listen to before we could resume our talk on the U.S. in Iraq. That’s pretty impressive. Annoying, but impressive. Many times it’s difficult for me to disagree with Sloan. But that time happened, indeed, and I’ll never look at him the same again.

I was walking across the Washington Ave. bridge and Sloan told me that he didn’t like talking in superlatives (this guy sounds like a real ball of laughs, doesn’t he). Don’t get me wrong, I like arguments; and I think that it’s important in a discussion for people to take and support varying perspectives and it’s the differences of opinion and belief that permeate our world that keeps us moving and living…but dismissing superlatives, I simply cannot accept.

I love to love things at an equally exalted level as I do to hate things. It’s the best…ever. If someone can’t see the ultimate value in that, I think that person is the lowest of all which disgusts and rots in this world and they most certainly couldn’t be my best friend, for certain.

This is why I think Sloan is kind of an idiot. I bet he couldn’t even appreciate the best internet advertising techniques if they were thrown in his face. It’s not Persian history, but internet advertising can have better or worse techniques. If that’s possible, it seems to me that with proper research on your targeted demographic and some strong attention given to one’s methodology, it’s quite possible to derive the best internet advertising for your particular site and also for your particular commodity. So, don’t be sloppy, thinking that any advertising is as good as anything else. There is a method that will work the best for you. It’s achievable and it’s also important to you, so take your time and don’t settle until you’ve got the best.

Determining Your Target Market

When you want to market your products or services, the first thing you need to do is to determine your target market. Once target market is determined, you can then use the four P in marketing to decide how to approach your target market. The Four P referred here is product, price, place (distribution) and promotion.

So, why is target market important? The main reason is that company exists for a reason. It needs to differentiate itself from competition in order to survive. For example if you have decided to sell bottled water to the general mass in the urban area, then good luck with that. In the US, Pepsi and Coke has widespread distribution of bottled water consumption through its Aquafina and Dasani brand. If you still insists on selling bottled water, then you need to narrow your target market.

For example, instead of selling to the general mass, your target market for the bottled water can be physically active individuals who avoids thirst quenchers such as Gatorade when they exercise. Once you identify this target market, you would then use the four P to differentiate yourself from regular bottled water. For example, in terms of place (distribution), you can avoid places such as fast food restaurants or lounges. Statistically, people who are exercising, seldom visit these places. You would then concentrate your distribution on places such as the school’s sporting facility.

While choosing your target market seems trivial, it will cost you a lot of marketing dollars if done incorrectly. Let’s assume that you do not decide what your target market is and you are now using the four P in marketing to market your product. You would then distribute your bottled water to places such as convenience stores, gas stations and the shopping mall. Will you capture audiences who are physically more active than the population? Yes, you will. But, the percentage of that audience is small compared to if you focus your distribution on that target market. As a result, you spend large amount of money to capture a small portion of the audience. Worse still, big companies such as Pepsi and Coke are now aware that you are invading their turf. The next thing they’ll do is to bombard the mass media with advertisement and price cut to make your products invisible. If they do it long enough, your survival may be in question. Therefore, choosing your target market is really important before marketing your products.

In the online world, you need to choose your target market too. Once you choose your target market, the four P should reflect this decision. For example, if your target market is individuals who are looking for ways to invest their money, you should not advertise in general audience such as CNN. Your marketing budget will be more effective if you spend your money in financial website such as Yahoo! Finance or The Motley Fool.

Same thing with your distribution channel. If you distribute your content to the general article directory, you will get loads of visitors who may not be interested in your products or services. Furthermore, as discussed earlier, it might attract your bigger competitors thinking that you are trying to take away their lunch. If your bigger competitors are not inept, they will then react accordingly and launch offensive campaigns that will render your marketing campaign useless.

Fortunately, nowadays, there are plenty of niche article directories allowing marketers to publish articles of certain field. Thus, smaller publishers can gain more visibility as niche directories generally have less people submitting their contents. Furthermore, larger competitors are reluctant to publish their contents there. The reason is that they have a larger cost overhead. Focusing on small target market will not do them any good. It is their loss. But you, my friend, should not miss this opportunity. It is one of the most efficient way of using your marketing dollars.
