Golden Rule #1:

Simple isn’t it? Yet I’m surprised how many websites I visit that don’t even bother to apply this golden rule. Often, as research shows, it can take at least seven (7) communications with your prospects (or existing customers) before they buy from you. Sure, people buy on impulse but there are no guarantees with this method. It really is a hit and miss strategy. Think about it. Really, you’ve done all the necessary hard work – found the ideal product or service; created your website; you’ve managed to attract prospects to your website yet profits still seem to be down or non existant.
So how can you increase your strike rate and increase your profits? You want to sell your product(s) and/or service to more visitors – but how you ask? Firstly, by applying Golden Rule #1. Then follow up prospects with structured communications at regular intervals (whilst not being too pushy), winning over their trust by providing valuable information, either by offering FREE ebooks, videos or ecourses. Failure to capture a visitor’s email address is surely a recipe for disaster. A prospect / customer email address is your Aladdins Cave. It needs to be managed and nurtured so that it will grow and continue day after day to bring you treasures. Seriously, by not doing this you are giving away potential profits to your competition!

Increase sales by over delivering in your giveaways
So, you have decided to market on the internet. You researched the market. You waded through all the technical jargon of how to make a website. You registered your domain. You set up your auto responder, now you need to find some ebook to give away so that you can build up your mailing list. This is the point where many newbies are bound to make a critical mistake. You have just spent a good amount of money for all the setting up of your website. The next month’s bills are already on the horizon if not upon you. The pressure is great to get some sales going. The temptation is now is to just grab any old ebook to give away as an offer to your visitors in return for their email address. Do not do it!!!
Look at it this way. Do you introduce yourself with a smile or with a frown? Giving away something of little or no value to your visitors is a frown. No matter how good your product is, most people are not going to buy until about the seventh contact with you. If their first impression of you is negative, you can kiss their business goodbye.
I am talking from personal experience. I recently came upon a really cool website. The owner of this site offered a free newsletter. I signed up not thinking much about it. At that point in time I was considering creating an ebook in PDF format. My problem was that I did not have $300 to spend on a PDF writing program. The first free newsletter arrived from the “cool website”. Well that was my lucky day. In the newsletter this guy gave me a fantastic tip. He showed me how to create a PDF ebook with totally free software. Just one little insight contained in a free newsletter saved me 300 bucks, and that was only the tip of the iceberg. Don’t you think that I will now feel that this guy is worth my trust? Well here is how much I trust him because he over delivered on what he promised. I am writing this article because he told me to.
The moral of the story: Deliver more than you promise, it will translate in trust, good will and most importantly, more sales.

Humor Turns E-Mail Viral
A study by Sharpe Partners, an interactive marketing agency, revealed that 89% of adult Internet users in America share content with others via e-mail. This is excellent news for those companies who use self-propelling word-of-mouse” e-mail techniques to sell their products.
The study generated some interesting results regarding the type of content that is most often forwarded, as well. The most popular content is humorous material.
The second most popular category is news, followed by healthcare and medical information, religious and spiritual material, games, business and personal finance information and sports/hobbies… in that order. So it is easy to see that humor is the best content for your viral e-mail campaign.
Cartoons, jokes and funny video clips are among the things that can be added to an e-mail to insure that it will go viral. People will want to pass along something that makes them laugh.
They are a lot more likely to hit the forward button and send your email to their friends and relatives if it is an “advertainment” rather than an advertisement.
Not along ago, about 35 million people got an e-mail containing a picture taken in Disneyland. It took a minute to see it but there was Donald Duck lying prone in front of the famous Cinderella Castle. The title of the picture was “Bird Flu has hit Disneyland”. It was a viral e-mail advertising Disneyland and used the edgy strategy of making light of what’s serious… and it works.
I’d guess that most people who own a computer have seen that picture… and thus the advertisement for Disneyland. The bird flu epidemic is newsworthy and has the potential to attract an enormous amount of attention to any brand that might, for whatever reason, associate itself with it.
Remember that people are much more likely to share a joke or a funny picture than anything else so you would be well advised to include humor in your e-mail campaign.
Increase Adsense Earnings By Quitting Smoking
I have been running the google adsense adverts on a number of my websites for around a year now. I have to admit that I am nowhere near the stage when I would be able to consider retiring on its income. I am quite envious of these people that you read about who are saying that they are earning two thousand dollars a week on the program but am fairly sure that most people would be happy to earn six hundred dollars a month. What adsense has helped me to do, quite strangely enough, is to stop smoking. I will explain how in this article.
In the first couple of months after I had had added the google adsense code onto some of my websites, I would go and check how much it had earned on a particular day and would be happy if it was over ten dollars. The average daily figure at this stage was around five or six dollars.
I wanted to find ways of attracting more visitors to these websites which in turn I believed would help me to increase my adsense earnings. I also thought about having a number of new sites built for the same reasons.
One day I was very happy as I had made sixteen dollars, this was the most I had ever made in one day. I live in the UK and this would equate to be worth about nine pounds. Later that evening my wife asked if I would be willing to go to the shops to buy her some cigarettes. I was quite happy to go as I also needed to buy some for myself. When I arrived at the shop, I asked the shopkeeper for the forty cigarettes and he in return stated how much it would cost. This amount was more than the nine pounds I had made that day on adsense.
Even though I was well aware of how much a packet of cigarettes would cost, this still came as a bit of a shock to me. There I am working very hard in an attempt to increase my adsense earnings and then go about throwing what money I have made down the drain by smoking these fags.
This was enough to give me the inspiration to stop smoking, I am not trying to say it is easy but knowing that over a course of a year I am likely to save around a thousand pounds was a big help to me.
My wife has also been very determined and has managed to quit smoking. We now live in a much healthier environment and can now afford to have a holiday abroad each year.
Inbound Links Have a Greater Effect Than One May Presume

I Happened Upon A Book That Shattered My Illusions
Back in 2000 I wrote a book “Starting an Internet Business at Home” which was published in hard copy format by Kogan Page (ISBN 0749434848).

How To Use Pop-Up’s Effectively To Generate More Profits!
What I’m about to explain to you will change to way you do your online marketing Today, Tomorrow and Years to come with little effort on your part.
This simple But effective technique involves the use of a ‘Pop-Up’ on your website, but, the difference between this technique and just a standard ‘Pop-Up’ or ‘Exit Pop-Up’ as we all see them is that when your potential prospects see them they are more then willing to give you there Name and Email address.
Why you ask?
Because your offering them something of Value for FREE.
As you well know the word ‘Free’ is one of the most Powerful words on the internet when used correctly and when combined with an ‘Pop-Up’… it could make you alot of extra money with little effort.
As a marketer myself, a simple Name and Email Address is worth hundreds, if not thousands of extra dollars a year if I collect and follow-up my leads properly, but, the questions that always seem to arise are…
…How do I do it? …What steps do I need to take?
So… now that I have your attention, let me explain to you how this can be achieved in a simple ‘Step-By-Step’ fashion.
Step #1:
What do you have that you can give away to your visitors as they leave your website that is of value to your visitor and more importantly, will benefit from?(Here’s a hint… Free Reports, eBooks, eCourses, etc.)
(Note: Give away brandable ebooks, reports, etc. with your affiliate links embedded within them. Make sure they’re related to the subject of the content.)
Step #2:
Once you’ve figured out what your going to give away, put together some ad copy for your ‘Pop-Up’ that your going to build that will grab your visitors attention and get them to sign-up for your ‘Free Offer’ or ‘Give Away’ as they leave your website.
(Note: You don’t have write alot, just a few attention grabbing sentences pointing out the ‘Benefits’ of your offer.)
Step #3:
Write a short Solo. You need this because after they sign-up through your web-form from your pop-up, this is what they will receive in there Inbox with either download info or other instructions that you specify in order for them to receive there Report, eBook, eCourse, etc.
(Note: Also, make sure you attach a ‘Signature File’ at the end of your Solo. Many marketer’s forget this part and are losing out on alot of extra profits. Don’t Forget!)
Step #4:
You need to go to your ‘Auto-responder’ management console and set-up an seperate auto-responder with the solo you wrote for your ‘Free Offer’ and/or ‘Give Away’.
Once you’ve set your auto-responder its now time for you to copy the HTML code for your auto-responder’s Web-Form and paste it into the ‘Pop-Up’ you just put together.
(Note: Auto-responder services may very. Simply follow there directions.)
Step #5:
This is the easy part, once you have completed all of the other steps, simply paste your ‘Pop-Up’ code into your desired webpage(s).
If you use pop-up software that creates and automatically inserts the code for you simply select the webpage you want the code to be placed on and the software will do the rest.
Now simply upload your newly formatted webpage and pop-up to your host and start sending it Traffic!
As a general rule, test out your pop-up for your first week a see how it pulling. You may need to tweek it if its not performing to your stardards. All it takes is just a few words to be changed to make your pop-up a success.
That’s it… your Done!
These are the 5 basic steps needed to turn your website into an fully ‘Automated Sales Machine’ that will automatically follow-up your leads 24/7/365 without you lifting a finger.
It may take a little time to set-up initially, but it’ll be worth it in the long run.
Now, I just have one last tip for you.
If you really want to get the most out of your Pop-Up and the leads it brings in simply load-up your already set-up ‘Auto-Responder’ with 6 or 7(or however many you want) follow-up emails and set them to go out every 3 to 4 weeks.
For maximum results make sure that you target the particular Product or Service you are offering or promoting because it makes no sense to offer a Product or Service that doesn’t relate to what your initial offer was that they signed up for.
