Three Free Websites that all Internet Marketers Should Use

February 28, 2009 - 10:18 pm

I can’t stress strongly enough how important it is for an Internet Marketer to know what marketing keywords they should use for their products, and how much their competition is willing to pay for those same keywords. This may seem like a complicated process, but it really isn’t. In this article we’ll discuss three free websites that all internet Marketers can use to find this information.

Let’s first talk about keywords… When I say ‘keywords’, I’m referring to marketing keywords. These are the words that your potential customers would use to describe your product. These are the same words that somebody would type in an online search engine to find your products.

If you have a business website and you don’t know which marketing keywords your website is geared to, then you’re website is certainly at a huge disadvantage. Why? Because you will be losing business. And you can bet that your main competition WILL know their marketing keywords, and they WILL be strategically using these keywords in their website and advertisements.

You see, when search engine spiders crawl your website, they’re looking for text in your website that can be indexed and used to describe the content of your website. If your website doesn’t contain the proper keywords that people use to find your product, then your website will likely not show up in their searches. So your website really needs to be optimized with the relevant marketing keywords that the majority of people are using to search for your product.

Another example where it is vital to know your marketing keywords is when using Pay-Per Click (PPC) advertising. Pay-Per Click advertising is typically done through search engines where you pay each time someone clicks on your advertisement (link). Your advertisement will appear after a user goes to the search engine and runs a keyword search (which is just a regular search). The search engine looks at their submitted keyword(s) and then cross references those with the keywords associated with the PPC advertisements. If they match, the PPC ads are then returned with the users search results… Go ahead and go to Google and run a search. The ads you see on the right-hand side of the screen are the PPC ads.

(Note: The order in which the PPC ads are returned are dependant on a few factors: the price you’re willing to pay for each click, the search engine used, the ad Click-Through Rate (CTR), etc.)

Let’s now go through a quick and free process for finding good keywords for your website.

1) Go to the Google AdWords Keyword Tool (https:adwords.google.com/select/main?cmd=KeywordSandbox)

Enter some key words into the textbox that you think people would use to conduct a search for your product. When you’re done, click the submit button. You will then be shown specific and similar keywords. Write down the ones that you think would apply to your product.

2) Go to the Overture Keyword Selector Tool (inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/)

Enter each keyword that you have written down from step 1, then click the right-arrow button. This will allow you to see which keywords are the most popular in Overture. Note: the most popular keywords aren’t always the most appropriate. For example, if your website sells guides on how to rebuild a 57 Chevy, then you will probably want to specifically target ‘57 Chevy’ keywords, instead of the less specific ‘Chevy’ keyword. Why? Because you want to get your ad/website in front of the people that are most likely to buy your product.

The above 2 websites should give you a great keyword list that you can now use to optimize your website. But if you want to advertise using PPC, you really need to know what your competition is paying for your keywords. This is an easy task as well.

3) Go to the Overture Bid Tool (uv.bidtool.overture.com/d/search/tools/bidtool/)

Enter your keywords into the textbox, and then click the search button. This will return the Overture bids for that keyword. The highest bids likely get the highest placements &ndash meaning the ads are closer to the top position on the first page of the user’s search results. The goal is to get as high as your budget will allow to the top position to ensure maximum exposure of your ad.

There you have it… three great websites that can help your Internet marketing campaigns &ndash and best of all, they are all free to use!

Sincerely,

Michael Ellis

Three Easy Lessons to Take Your Online Marketing to the Next Level

February 27, 2009 - 4:42 pm

The common thread? These experiences reinforced several lessons that will help you succeed in attracting the right kinds of clients. Here are ideas and resources to help you take action:

Lesson 1: Be yourself when you market. This is particularly true if you offer a really complex or academic service (like the scientists I mentioned) where it’s natural to cite lots of references and sources. Instead of getting caught up in stiff or unnatural language that stands between you and the audience you’re trying to connect with, just be yourself. I see a lot of people struggle with this when it comes to writing “copy” for their website, an e-newsletter or sales letter.

In the wise words of my new friend, Fred Gleeck (online marketing genius and co-host of this past weekend’s Subscription Website Publishers Association Conference .swepa.org), “Just write the truth. The truth as you see and feel it. People will then feel more comfortable about the copy you write. They may not be able to put their finger on it, but it will be more believable and it will increase sales. Forget the hype and “slightly” untruthful copy. Adopt a writing style that makes sure that what you say and what is ACTUALLY true are in complete harmony.” To tap more of Fred’s wisdom, visit him at .fredgleeck.com

Lesson 2: If you don’t have one, start an e-newsletter TODAY! The key to successful online marketing comes down to one thing: a basic, opt-in e-newsletter. Why? Because you’re invited to “touch” your readers regularly with small samples of your thinking. In turn, you invite them to check out more resources on your website. It becomes easy for them to spread the word about you. It’s a way to get new contacts from your offline networking into your online marketing system.

A really good e-newsletter, written in your natural voice (see Lesson 1) is the engine that drives your marketing machine. Don’t let excuses like “my website’s not ready” and “we don’t have our editorial calendar planned out” stop you. The point is to start connecting with your target audience at least monthly to build the relationship. My favorite resource for how-to is Debbie Weil at .wordbiz.com. Debbie will get you up and running in no time.

Lesson 3: Nobody cares about you…and here’s what to do about it. According to PR expert Paul Hartunian (.prprofits.com), nobody cares if you’ve just released the greatest new service, gotten promoted, hired new staff or spoken at another conference. What they do care about is how you can rock their world. If you start your marketing message with, “We are pleased to announce…,” you’re dead in the water.

What you need to do is: 1) use a basic template to write press releases that work (Paul has ‘em); 2) torture the media by telling them what problems you solve, but not how you solve them (they’ll have to call you to find out); 3) develop a simple 3-page media kit for quick follow up (your 1-page press release, a 1-page “so what?” bio, and a 1-page FAQ sheet). The other hot thing that the press likes these days is online media rooms. This is a dedicated place on your website where they can, in one or two easy downloads, check you out and get what they need to write a story about you. An easy way to do this is via the Media Room product at .dvcotechnology.com.

The 3 easy steps to improve your online marketing efforts?

Step 1: Be yourself when you market.

Step 2: Start an e-newsletter (monthly, at a minimum).

Step 3: Remember that nobody cares about you (only how you can rock their world).

Thousands Now Sell Ad Space Who Never Thought They Could

February 26, 2009 - 11:41 am

Current info about Ad Space is not always the easiest thing to locate. Fortunately, this report includes the latest Ad Space info available.

1. Give your customers a discount when they spend over a certain dollar amount for ad space. You can also apply this tip to the amount of ads they buy.

2. Offer your customers a free bonus for renewing their ad order. It could be an ebook, special report, online utility, etc.

3. Sell advertising space between your content. You just break an article in half and insert the banner or classified ad between it.

4. Write content that’s tailor made to mention and relate to the product your customers are advertising. This is more work but, you’ll sell a lot of ads. Is everything making sense so far? If not, I’m sure that with just a little more reading, all the facts will fall into place.

5. Tell your customers when they buy an ad you’ll also add it to your free ebook and message board for free.

6. Offer to endorse the product your customers are advertising before or after their ad. In all honesty, you would have try out the product first.

7. Write a review for your customer’s product to place under their ad. This is similar to a testimonial or endorsement but more in-depth.

8. Offer a buy 2 ads and get 1 free deal. With the slow economy and advertising sales, most businesses are bound to be looking for a good ad deal.

9. Give your customers a ton of free bonuses when they buy ad space. It can be submission software, an ebook full of advertising or copywriting tips, etc.

10. Guarantee your customer’s advertising results. If they don’t like the traffic they receive, give them a refund or another ad for free.

There’s a lot to understand about Ad Space. We were able to provide you with some of the facts above, but there is still plenty more to write about in subsequent articles. .internet-marketing-ez.com/

They Found A Fortune On The Internet

February 24, 2009 - 3:54 pm

It’s exciting when people burdened with debt find a solution.

Bill and Shona (real names changed for privacy) were up to their ears in financial problems when they decided on an unusual strategy. They would give each other $100 to find a solution to their situation.

Bill immediately went online and set to work. He found a gambling casino and started to invest.

Shona retreated to the kitchen, took out the pad and pencil she used for making her shopping lists and started in on some serious thinking.

First she asked herself: “How much do I need to make?”

She calculated repayments on their mortgage, loans and credit cards and then added living expenses, a bit for treats and some for savings and wrote the figure down.

Then her questions went something like this:

“How am I going to get that money?”

She answered: “By selling something?”

“What?”

She thought for some time and couldn’t find a quick answser, so she wrote down a question mark and moved on.

“Who would buy anything from me?”

Again she had to think hard, but then she had a moment of inspiration: “How about, people like me? If I can find a solution to one of the problems we all share, they’ll buy it from me.”

Then she went back to her: “What am I going to sell?” question and wrote: “a way to get out of debt.”

Bill wouldn’t give up time on the computer until he’d lost all of his $100. Then he went out one night for a drink with the boys and Shone got her chance on the computer.

Using Google she found a lady who sold a book on ‘how to get out of debt’. She could earn twenty dollars commission for every book she sold.

She bought the book and read it from cover to cover. Then she set out to do everything that the book recommended. In no time at all she’d lost the feeling of helplessness which had been her constant companion and replaced it with the feeling that she was in charge of her situation. She began to feel really happy.

Now she had to start selling the book and earning her $20 commissions.

Once again she did a search on the Internet and found a free course which would teach her how to build a simple web site and attract visitors.

She enrolled for the course and immediately set to work. The way each step was explained was so clear that it made it easy to do the things she’d always feared would be difficult. In less than a week she’d built her first web site and got it ‘on air’.

Eleven days after that she received an e-mail saying: “SALE NOTIFICATION on (date) you made $19.90.” She stared at the screen in disbelief for several moments before letting out a whoop of excitement and joy.

The next day another “SALE NOTIFICATION” e-mail arrived. She shouted for Bill to come and see.

“Look, I’ve made another sale,” she exclaimed excitedly. “And, do you know what, I’ve only spent a third of my budget and I’ve got all that money back already.

This Stuffs really works: How Vision and Beliefs create your business

February 24, 2009 - 11:02 am

Do you ever get fired up with a great idea, but take no action?

If you don’t believe that it is possible to make large amounts of money then you won’t take the required action that will deliver the results

You are not alone, this is common because people have great ideas but they do not line up with their beliefs of what they are capable of, what will work and what is good.

Believe in yourself and what you want to do. Go and find the skills that you need to make it happen, find a mentor if possible, take action. Measure the results and feed the results back in and keep continually improving

Not everything will work for you and that is fine. Just keep holding your vision of what you want to achieve and just keep moving towards it.

You need to get out there and try things and see if they work for you, if they produce results then keep using them, no results then stop using them

Have you even had a doubt if you have what it takes to achieve what you want, congratulations, you are in good company, most of the world.

Relax and focus on what you want, ideas and resources will come.

The important thing for you to do is to absorb ideas and filter out the ones that seem attractive to you. If they seem attractive, then they probably line up with your beliefs and also what you want to achieve. After you pick out the ideas then try them out, take some actions and measure the results.

You don’t have to have an original idea just a good one and try it out, see if it works for you. You don’t have to be lucky, a genius, or anything special.

Find somebody who knows how to do what you want to achieve, and do what they do. Believe that it will work and you will align yourself with taking the right actions that will deliver the results that you want.

Simple things applied are a lot more powerful that something that is never applied

Kaizen: the process of continuous improvement took the Japanese industries to a large market share by continuously applying small changes and measuring the results.

Albert Einstein commented that if you studied anything for 10 Mins a day in one year you would be an expert. Study those ideas and apply them one by one and see if they work for you.

Keep the big picture of what you want and focus upon it and you will find the resources to keep you achieve that vision.

You will make mistakes, you will try things that do not work but as long as you hold your vision and move steadily towards it, it will happen.

Actions delivers results, it does not have to be perfect action day one, just try it and see what results you get, look around for how other people are doing it, make changes and measure the results.

You will be amazed at what results you can get by consistently focusing on what you want, taking consistent inspired actions and seeing what results you are getting.

If you are getting the results that you want then keep doing it and gradually make improvements.

If you are not getting the results that you want than look for other ways to do things. Look at what beliefs that you may have that are conflicting with what you consciously say that you want to achieve.

Be flexible enough to change what you are thinking or doing until you start to deliver the results that you want

The World Of Online Business Opportunities (Part4)

February 22, 2009 - 12:53 pm

Commitment, Yours and Theirs

To achieve success in any on-line business, it is necessary to have a high level of commitment.

The road to success is not an easy one. Despite what you may have read, it is certainly no easier on the internet than it is anywhere else. A high level of commitment is necessary not just of you but by all the parties to your on-line venture.

Start by looking at yourself. How serious are you? Are you a “bumblebee;” one of those people who flits from one on-line business opportunity to another looking for that one perfect flower? Newsflash…there isn’t one. If you are a bumblebee then its time you assessed your ability to commit. There are many very worthwhile businesses on the internet, but unless you know how to “finish the job” then you are simply wasting your time and your money.

If you really want to succeed, you have to be prepared to do the things that will help you to succeed. No matter which business you choose, the process is the same. You have to work at it. If you don’t want to work at it, then perhaps you aren’t really cut out for the kind of work environment where you need a lot of personal drive and initiative. No matter how wonderful you think it might be to “work from home” and do your own thing, if you don’t have the discipline to make yourself do what needs to be done, you won’t succeed. Just wishing you had a beautiful garden isn’t going to get you one. You have to sow the seeds, and pull the weeds before you can reap the rewards.

Now, take a look at the team that you are interested in joining. Many teambuilds promote their business opportunity on business forums, such as Moneymakergroup. You can very quickly review all the teambuilds that each team is offering. Before you make your decision as to which is the right team, go through all the teambuild threads, and read the posts. Look for the following information:

1. Check the names of the members who started the team-build. How many team-builds does this person have? Are they all still active? If not, how long did the team-build last before it fizzled? What caused the previous team-build to die out? If the business is still in operation but the teambuild has stalled post in these threads. Ask the leaders why the team-build seems to have stalled.

2. Then check to see if the leader is running other team-builds? How many do they have? Is there evidence that the team-build fizzled out after the leaders were paid their commission?

If a leader is moving from business to business, reaping commissions as they go, leaving stalled teams in their wake, don’t you owe it to yourself to forego this teambuild, even if initially it does look exciting and promising? Remember, anyone can start a teambuild, but can they stick with it when the newness wears off, the problems start to surface and the routine becomes monotonous?

Bumblebees can be found everywhere. You owe it to yourself to find out how committed these leaders are to the team-builds that they begin. It is your money that you are investing and if a leader convinces you to invest with their team, they have a responsibility to do everything within their power to fulfill their promise to work on your behalf.

If a teambuild has stalled, try to determine if the failure of the venture was due to the team leadership or to the business itself. You can’t blame the gardener for a drought.

Multiple Streams of Income

This is another phrase that you see all over the internet. But do you really need to be involved in 50 different businesses to achieve on-line success?

Does the team offer you a variety of business opportunities that make sense and support each other? If their multiple streams of income do not flow smoothly from one opportunity to another then it will detract from your ability to focus on your goals. Furthermore, ask yourself if the businesses are in competition with each other? Why would you want to join a team that offers you 2 separate travel programs, unless they were integrated in a way that will result in synergy? This means both programs should work fabulously well together for the maximum benefit of each member and the team as a whole. Think about it.

Look for a team that is going to provide you with no more than one or two key business opportunities. Everything else that they are offering should support these key businesses. If you have more than 3 it will surely dilute the efforts and the capital of the members that you recruit. Furthermore, it will most likely steal your focus, drain you of good energy and it will definitely slow your momentum.

END OF CHAPTER FOUR

The Winner

February 21, 2009 - 3:37 pm

Jennifer, a young woman in her twenties, works over 15 hours a day to provide for her 2 children. As a single mother, she struggles everyday trying to make ends meet and provide for her children. But after working so many long hours, she never seems to get out of the rat race. One bill after another torments her night and day, and it’s really stressing her out. She never spends enough time with her children and it is tearing her up on the inside. So one day, she decides to start an online business selling custom made jewelry, which is one of her specialties. Her goal is to quit her job within 6 months, but she doesn‘t have any money to spend on marketing her website. So what should she do in order to get this done without spending any money at all in advertising?

Well, since Jennifer already invested over $700 for a web designer to design her website, all she needs to do right now is focus on advertising. She has no money to spend, so all the advertising must be free.

And when venturing into free online advertising methods, you must first realize that even though no money is spent, a lot of time must be invested instead.

Now there is a saying that, “Time is money.”

This is very true, especially when you are trying to start an online business with no advertising costs. The time you should invest, must be proportional to the money you would invest if you had any.

Also, the more time you invest in building your business, the more money you will make.

MORE TIME = MORE MONEY

Therefore, Jennifer must first come into the realization that she will have to devote at least 3 hours a day to her online business. This will give her only 6 hours of sleep. But she is determined to do this for the next 6 months in order to change the direction of her life.

Now what should she do?

Well, when starting an online business, she needs to make sure that she is constantly building up her internet marketing assets. Now an internet marketing asset, in my opinion, is anything that will potentially place money in your pocket, and sustain continual business growth. When most people start their internet business, they make the error of spending most of their time building only one major internet marketing asset. In the long run, the marketer who does this will experience success. But since Jennifer is trying to leave her job in 6 months, she must build multiple internet marketing assets at the same time.

Now there are currently 4 critical internet marketing assets that she must continually build upon in the next 6 months.

These assets are:

1. Content

2. Links to her website

3. Email List of Subscribers

4. Partners

So based off of what we discussed, Jennifer should spend the majority of her time building each of these 4 critical internet marketing assets in the next 6 months since she doesn’t have any money to spend on advertising.

She must also learn how to synergize all of these assets for the sol purpose of accelerating the growth of her online business. I call this the “Law Of Synergized Marketing” and I will explain this in my next article.

But before I end, I want to leave you with this one final closing point:

If you want to build a successful business on a zero budget, you must spend a lot of time building up each of these internet marketing assets. It is imperative that you do this. The more time you spend on building each of these assets, the more money you will make. The good part of all of this is that you will not have to spend any money at all and still be able to earn a very substantial income.

The Whole Truth and Nothing but the… ?

February 20, 2009 - 10:05 pm

And I’m not saying, “so help me God” either because……..

Here is the honest truth.

It just kills me when day after day I see all these advertisements from these BIG name marketers. You know who they are, as I’m sure you receive their emails, too. Those big shots, also known as gurus, that claim to be making Sooo MUCH money with the system, program or software they have and are willing to generously sell their secret weapon to you and me. If they are so rich already, why don’t they just sit back enjoy their time and money? Why don’t they quit trying to sell their so called fantastic products to others? Why? Simply because all the money they are talking about is the money that you and I are so easy to part with, that’s why. If they stop getting our money, their income stops. Not to forget to mention that some of the things they offer are so outrageously priced. I’ve seen more than one for over $900. Are they crazy?

I can’t understand who could afford to take that kind of a gamble in the first place. I’ve had a hard time scraping up $19.97 for some of the offers I have fallen for.

How about you?

But there are people out there who spend any amount of money, because they are so desperate and willing to do anything at any cost to find that magical formula that will finally make them rich. I’ve even heard of people taking out second mortgages on their houses, only to lose that, too! You might as well try one roll of the dice at the craps table or a spin of the roulette wheel in Vegas with your money. Or buy some lottery tickets. Your odds would probably be better and at least you’d have a little moment’s worth of fun that way.

Some of these big guys offer “source code” they claim is easy to use and can be used to create virtually anything you might need, but the average person would have no idea how to use it, even if they bought it. You’d have to hire a programmer to set it up so you were able to use it, and programmers don’t come cheap!

What a deal, huh?

I’m not trying to say that everyone out there is a crook or that all the products offered are just a bunch of hype or bull. There are good things out there, but for every decent product, there are 20 that aren’t. There are only a handfull of people who are actually truly making good money on the Internet successfully, at least that I know of. Do you ever wonder why that is? Well, I’m going to tell you why and let you in on another one of the angles they play on us.

Did you ever notice that when you get an email or see an advertisement with a big boys name attached to it, you’ll get ads from almost every other big name out there, offering the same thing? Sure, they each throw in their bonus or special offers, just to get you to buy from them. Not only do they make more money, they also get you on their list, so they can keep selling you more and more down the road. This is what is commonly called, “in cahoots”. Yep, they each scratch the other guy’s back and get paid well for their time and effort, too. They cross sell, which gives them an advantage. The first offer might not do a thing for you, but

the second or third one you get from a different big name might. Who’s footing the bill for all this success again? Like PT Barnum said, “there’s a sucker born every minute”, and unfortunately that’s the honest truth. Us — you, me and the rest of the Internet little guys and gals who are hopeful.

I’m not saying that forming partnerships is a bad thing. It’s wonderful when you can find other people who you can work with towards your joint success. But it’s not right that people are selling garbage to the masses at unbelievable prices and we are buying it because of the name attached to it. Isn’t it about time we smartened up? We actually control the numbers on

the Net, so why don’t we just ban together and finally help one another by putting a stop to feeding right into the big boys hands, providing them with all the money for their toys, vacations and fun? It’s like the high gasoline prices. If people would simply cut back on their driving just a little bit each day, you would be amazed how the price of gas would come down in no time. With the numbers that this country has for vehicles on the road, if we would all do our part, you would see the results. No magical formula or anything, just some good ‘ole fashion common sense.

I’m an average person. I worked in a local factory for 27 years. It was a dead end job with lots of hours and little pay and, of course, the big boys in the company were the ones who made the big bucks. Sound familiar? In the real world, the same thing happens off the Net as well as on the Internet, so for the most part, there is no difference. Here’s how the headline should read in all the newspapers across the country, “Little Guys Makes Big Shots Rich”. What a shame or should I say, “fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me”. What’s that all about, you ask? Simply put, it means this. If someone tries to trick you once, but you catch them in the act, shame on them. They are caught and fail at fooling you. But, if someone fools you twice and you fall for it, shame on you for being so gullible.

Folks, the Internet does offer one of the biggest opportunities for the masses to create and earn an extra income. There’s billions of dollars a year being spent on the Internet now days. It’s growing at an incredible rate each and every day. Best part of all is that even the little guy, who may not even have graduated from high school, still has the opportunity and chance to finally succeed. Amost anyone can make money online with the right help, guidance, training and support. It’s a matter of leveling the playing field, so no one has the chance to fail.

I’m NOT going to give you a BIG bunch of HYPE here or fill you up with false promises, as the big boys do enough of that for all of us already. That’s it in a nutshell.

I hope you have enjoyed this article. I honestly feel that I have tried to project the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, at least in my opinion. Please feel free to pass this along to others and see if they don’t agree. I hope it helps out others by giving them a little more insight about Internet marketing and what to watch out for and be careful of. I can honestly say that there are a good handful of marketing gurus out there now a day, but as of this writing, fortunately I’m NOT one of them. Notice I said fortunately I’m NOT one of them. I don’t want to treat people that way. So….here’s to you and your success. Here’s my site for your information: .cash2burn.com As Spock said on the old TV Star Trek show, “Live Long and Prosper” and I do hope you prosper and of course, live long, too. Take care and bye for now.

The Value of Web Directories

February 18, 2009 - 1:06 pm

Web Directories Explained

By S. Housley

Web directories are an important component to search engine positioning. Directories come in all shapes and sizes, some are generic, while others are highly specialized. Directories, are defined as categorized topics or collections of information organized into a tree like structure where categories are used to define each groups association.

Large directories like Yahoo tend to have general themes and may charge for listings. While smaller niche directories like .finance-investing.com offer free listings and profit from advertising revenue or pay per click models like Google AdSense.

Being listed in a directory not only brings in targeted traffic, it provides a one-way link from a website with similar content. Directories are generally highly ranked in search engines, and are considered well respected resources, two traits that are desirable in link partners.

While smaller directories that focus on a specific niche might generate less traffic, the quality of the traffic from a niche site is usually highly targeted and will be superior to that generated from general search engines.

If you are selling fire alarms, traffic from yahoo will be less qualified than traffic from Alarm Tools, .alarm-tools.net . Most visitors to Alarm Tools will have a genuine interest in alarms and alerting systems. The nature of highly specialized directories result in visitors who have a serious interest in the directories theme, or a at the very least an interest in a theme related to the directory.

As a result, web publishers need to make a conscience effort not to ignore the value of directory listings. Regardless of their size, a related niche directory listing can be extremely valuable.

Many directories offer sponsorship opportunities. Vendors can optionally purchase sponsorship to increased their exposure with a bold listing or top category listings.

Determining a Directories Value

It is difficult to assess the value of directory listing, as there is an obvious advantage to a listing of a closely related theme directory that is difficult to measure and quantify. In general, webmasters can use common web guidelines to determine the popularity of a directory and assess the directory link’s value.

To assess the value of a web directory, consider the PageRank of the webpage where the link placement of your site will occur. The PageRank is indicative of how important Google may find a specific page. Another reliable third party measuring tool is Alexa. The Alexa ranking provides insight into how popular a website is. In general, a link from a web page containing a PageRank of 5 or higher is considered very good. A link from a site in Alexa’s top 100,000 is also generally very desirable.

Compare the following two directories’ Monitoring Tools .monitoring-tools.net and RSS Specifications .rss-specifications.com . Monitoring Tools’ main page has a PageRank of 5 but most internal pages that contain links have low page ranks and the overall Alexa ranking of the site is over 650,000. The Value Of Good Link Partners

February 16, 2009 - 8:34 pm

As you already know, good link partners are vital to the growth of your website. Without good link partners you won’t be ranked highly in the search engines, and you won’t receive the traffic you need to gain new customers and make new sales. Building high-quality links to your website helps it to succeed.

Websites that maintain good incoming links will get many targeted visitors from their link partners. These link partners are also a good source of information and can offer value for the visitors that come to your website more often. The idea behind link partners is to find web sites with complementary content so that you enhance your web site. For example, if you sell computers, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to link to a site that sells printers.

Linking to your competitors is much more dangerous. The fact of the matter is that when you link to your competitors you are handing them your business. They may be handing some of theirs back to you, but the trade off simply isn’t worth it. If you are in a situation where it is your product or theirs, do not link to them. Aside from the obvious issue of losing business to their site, you may even lose the returning link if you don’t keep an eye on it.

When dealing with link partners, there’s virtually no point unless you get reciprocal links. These links make your website look good, as well as getting you targeted traffic from users clicking on the links. When you are optimizing your site for key words, however, it is important to link to sites that provide more information regarding the content that you have provided. In cases like this, the link is already helping you. If you get a returning link in addition it’s like killing two birds with one stone.

With good-quality incoming links, you will benefit greatly from the increased traffic to your site. Most major search engines’ rankings are at least partly based on the number of quality links pointing to your website. Google, HotBot, AltaVista, MSN, Inktomi and more all use link popularity in their formula for calculating rankings.

The value of your link partner’s sites will be very important, as many of the search engines use this in determining how relevant your site is to the terms that are being searched on. A site with a page rank below three generally isn’t worth exchanging links with. Then again, if the site is on its way up, it might be a good idea to get in on the ground floor. If you are curious as to whether a site is going to be accumulating a higher page rank in a short period of time try going to .iwebtool.com/rank and punching the site’s URL into the “backlink” tool or the “page rank predictor.” These will show you how many links the site has going to them and will let you know what the page rank could be within the next three months.

You must always keep an eye on the value, and use value-for-value exchanges only. Make sure that your link doesn’t get removed from any sites you link to, and remove your own link to them if it does. Many people will agree to link with you and then remove your link after a week or two. If you leave your site linked to them, then they’re the only one benefiting.

Good link partners are hard to find, and it will take some time for them to respond. You may have to contact them more than once, and probably won’t take you seriously if you just ask them to trade you links. It is important to provide them with information relating to your company and let them know why your link will be worth while to them. If you are serious about SEO, you will be able to let them know that you expect your page rank to explode within the next few months and you may be able to accumulate links this way.

It’s important for to make sure that you links are checked on a regular basis. Of course you don’t have much control over the incoming links, but you can still do whatever you want with the outgoing ones. You should immediately remove any links that don’t work, as they can and will bring your search engine rankings down.

By understanding how link partnering works and maintaining good quality links on your website, you can increase your targeted traffic and improve your sales. After all, isn’t that the whole point of having an online business? Just remember that your website, like any other business, takes time and effort to make it succeed, and any little way you can speed up the process is good &ndash as long as it’s not against the rules, of course.
