Here is the first rule anyone learns who is even remotely concerned with marketing …

“Sell the sizzle and not the steak.”

In other words, an appeal to what excites the consumer is much more effective than the properties of the product. This is not necessarily deceptive. In many cases, products can be so similar that the only real difference among them is in their perception, ie- ‘sizzle,’ by the public.

If ever anyone in cyberspace has excelled with this principle, it’s The Rich Jerk.

If you’ve done any significant cybercruising, you’ve surely encountered his promotional campaign. His spiel is impressively creative. He claims that he’s rich, not necessarily because he works harder than you, but because he’s better than you. As a result, he doesn’t really care what you think about him or whether you’re interested in buying his product. However, he makes it very clear that it’s due to his product that he can claim his arrogant superiority over you and everyone else.

The Rich Jerk could be the Don Rickles of the 21st century. He revels in spewing insults at his audience, and the more he wallows in rudeness, the more effective his message becomes. Some readers may not be amused by his angle, but most recognize that he goes so over the top with his approach that his point is made. He purports to be so financially free that it doesn’t matter what others think of him, and therein lies the sizzle.

The Rich Jerk’s product is a mere staple of cyberspace: he’s selling a work-at-home internet business concept. There’s nothing earth-shaking in his content. It’s basically the same as what everyone else in the genre is selling:

1) Find a product,

2) Get a website,

3) Promote the product,

4) Reap the profits.

The Rich Jerk has some leads that may expedite the process, but none of those are anything exceptional, either. Results will vary. Few will join him in richness.

Still, that’s not the Rich Jerk’s issue. His job is selling his product. He’s doing it legally and effectively. As far as I’m concerned, he’s merely selling the cyber-equivalent of bottled water; he’s taking something you can get for free, putting an aura around it and getting you to pay for it. Willingly.

Another principle taught in marketing is that of cognitive dissonance. Basically, this term infers that consumers have a tendency to justify their purchase of a product by noting its advantages to them and downplaying any disadvantages. For example, in this case, they’d say they’ve bought a step-by-step tutorial for getting into a work-at-home business and have saved time over anyone trying to gather all that information by themselves, even though the task can be done for free with a bit of search-engineering. Almost every positive comment I’ve seen about The Rich Jerk’s product confirms this tendency.

Thus, the Rich Jerk has his bases covered. His sizzle is alluring, his product may be obvious, but it’s legitimate and his aftermarket has afterglow.

Not only has the Rich Jerk seemingly done well for himself, he’s spawned a cottage industry for others. Copycats are abounding. So far, I’ve already seen ads for the Money King and The Rich Pig; more are probably on the way. They’re poor imitations, but in cyberspace, duplication is a successful form of flattery. They might actually profit from their near-plagiarism.

There is one facet of Jerkdom that is worth calling to your attention, though, which involves the third sales principle I’d like to mention: incentive marketing. This involves giving a consumer something for nothing, in some manner, in order to realize a profit.

Enter The Free Jerk. He’s offering to give you the Rich Jerk product, legally, in return for your simply reading his critique of it. That’s his product.

The Free Jerk profits because you’re going to first pay for the Rich Jerk’s product, after which The Free Jerk gives you a 100% rebate. In effect, he’s ‘sharing’ the affiliate’s commission he receives from The Rich Jerk for your purchase. He makes up the financial difference — and then some — by directing your details, for another commission, to major cyberspace advertisers who see you as an ‘active’ cyber-consumer. Thus, he realizes a net profit and you get what becomes a ‘free’ copy of the Rich Jerk’s product. You also get directed to additional advertising, but The Free Jerk tells you in advance that it’s coming your way, so you do have a choice.

Thus, the Jerk industry is a niche of ironies. Sizzle is on sale, and if you’re so inclined, you can accept someone else’s sizzle in exchange for being exposed to further sizzle in order to acquire the original sizzle for nothing more than a bit of after-sizzle.

And while all this is in process, someone’s making money and everyone has the possibility of being satisfied with their end of the deal.

As the consumer who catalyzes this Jerk-a-thon, perhaps that makes you the Niche Jerk.

Marketing is indeed alive and well in cyberspace.

They’re free! You only need a brain and a computer which if you’re reading this now, you meet the criteria. Time needs to be put in to do the required research and make sure that your information meets and exceeds the needs of your chosen market. When organized properly, your information becomes a positive cashflow asset. Robert Kiyosaki is a strong advocate of creating positive cashflow assets. Many people think of assets as those things that have value but a real asset puts money in your pocket on a daily basis. Examples of free content that became an asset is any musician that you know and love. The Righteous Brothers are a classic group that came up with a few chart-topping hits and assuming that they wrote the music themselves, created an asset that has continued to create revenue even decades later.

And when venturing into free online advertising methods, you must first realize that even though no money is spent, a lot of time must be invested instead.

Now there is a saying that, “Time is money.”

Now an internet marketing asset, in my opinion, is anything that will potentially place money in your pocket, and sustain continual business growth. When most people start their internet business, they make the error of spending most of their time building only one major internet marketing asset. In the long run, the marketer who does this will experience success. But since Jennifer is trying to leave her job in 6 months, she must build multiple internet marketing assets at the same time.

Now there are currently 4 critical internet marketing assets that she must continually build upon in the next 6 months.

These assets are:

1. Content

2. Links to her website

3. Email List of Subscribers

4. Partners

So based off of what we discussed, Jennifer should spend the majority of her time building each of these 4 critical internet marketing assets in the next 6 months since she doesn’t have any money to spend on advertising.

She must also learn how to synergize all of these assets for the sol purpose of accelerating the growth of her online business. I call this the “Law Of Synergized Marketing” and I will explain this in my next article.

But before I end, I want to leave you with this one final closing point:

If you want to build a successful business on a zero budget, you must spend a lot of time building up each of these internet marketing assets. It is imperative that you do this. The more time you spend on building each of these assets, the more money you will make. The good part of all of this is that you will not have to spend any money at all and still be able to earn a very substantial income.

Other than creating your own products in order to join the herds of increasing business online crowd, there are also other easier ways to have an immediate Internet business established.

So what do you need in order to join the Resell Rights business? It is very easy(really mean it..), which is to have a domain name &ndash able to get one easily from Yahoo for $2.99 or namecheap for $8.88, it depends on which you prefer, a hosting, most preferably a paid one &ndash important, and a fully-functional website.

There are tons of hosting out there, and to name a few midPhase(free domain name), lunarpages(free domain name as well), bluehost, or GoDaddy are the better ones.

These are almost the basic requirements of a successful affiliate, but don’t be mistaken – Affiliates and resellers are different.

Affiliates don’t need to have any other startup costs other than the basic requirements above, but resellers &ndash yes. Resellers will need to purchase the rights to a product owned by the other people, but they can resell the products and keep 100% of the profits instead. For affiliates, they only receive a percentage of commissions from their sales. Usually, purchasing the rights to resell a certain product can cost 3, 5 or even 10 times more than its normal price.

The few stages of Resell Rights:

• Basic Resell Rights

You can sell the product, but not your customers.

• Master Resell Rights

When you have a master resell rights product for sale, you can resell it to your customers, and so can they with the same product. This means that when you purchase a Master Resell Right, your customers get to sell the same item as well.

• Private Label Rights

These are really popular. Why is it so? &ndash If you purchase a private label right of a product, you get to change the contents of the product any ways you want, produce it under your name, anything! Basically, you can treat it as though it’s your production.

Prices for a private label right is much higher than any other rights. Of course, everyone knows it(it’s common sense!).

• Give Away Rights

As clear as it sounds, you may give away the product to anyone you want! Instead, you can’t sell or edit the product in any ways.

Usually give away rights works well with viral marketing &ndash people give their work out for publicity.

• Rebranding Rights

This product works almost the same as a product with give away rights, but you are able to edit part of the contents to benefit yourself on publicity as well. Most probably, you can only edit the sponsored names, website URL and affiliate links.

How can you profit from a resell rights business at its peak?

You definitely need your opt-in lists. In fact, the most important thing for an Internet Marketer is his or her lists of subscribers. Some Internet Marketers who own 100,000 to 200,000 subscribers(also called leads) doesn’t even need to actually work anymore. What they do everyday is just providing their subscribers or leads with some useful information, real life news, stories, and build a closer relationship with them.

When they found a good product or item, easily they can send an email out and endorse it, earning commissions through the affiliate links. Well as for a reseller, you do the same, but a little bit different. When there are products that you think is interesting and is worth to be “told” to your subscribers, you purchase the resell rights to it and usually, sell them to your subscribers at a better offer.

Most Internet Marketers will usually purchase much more resell rights to the other products then combine them together, selling all of them at a cheaper price in a bundle. Sometimes the price can even be more expensive for up to ten times if you purchase them separately, that is why tons of people would rather purchase the products from resellers in a bulk.

Nevertheless, it is not always a must to sell all of them together. Many resell rights have the same looks and same sales page and you can change that. By writing your own or hiring a copywriter to craft a much more compelling sales copy for the resell product, you can increase the response a lot more.

As for digital products like e-books or software, you can design a whole new e-book cover or software box instead of using the given one that comes with the resell rights. As the saying goes “in the valley of the blind the one with an eye is the king.” 727 words

Now being a reseller is really sometimes easier than anything. When new resell rights which seems attractive are being sold, people will just need to purchase the rights to them, compile them, and next ready to be sold in a single sales copy. Search for joint venture partners, offer them a higher percentage in commissions, request them to endorse your offer and that’s it.

Being any Internet Marketer, it is always better to take hold of every opportunity you can earn money with. When you successfully sell a product to a customer, try and sell him or her another product right on your Thank You page. Basically the idea is “since you’re my customer and you purchased a product from me, here’s a great offer specially for you at an incredible special price.” It’s a very good way of having a back-end sale.

That’s not all, to urge customers into pulling out their credit cards for the Thank You page item, most Internet Marketers will also make it a one-time offer &ndash this will be shown only one time, you won’t see it again. If the customers are interested they’ll get it, if not, there’s no harm at all.

There are many ideas of earning money as a reseller and you can always apply it for your own. The Internet business market is so huge that you can choose from these varieties of business styles that suits yourself. From starting your own Internet business selling your own product, earning commissions from affiliate programs and being a reseller &ndash make the best decision for yourself and get started!

This is the second offering in a series dedicated to telling you how to let the online world you’re alive. We’ll take a look at internet article directories.

Besides death and taxation, we should add ones willingness to share an opinion to the list of all things definite. Doing this in the past was a pretty cost prohibitive task. Today we have this wonderful tool called the internet to help us.

This can be a good thing for marketing your site or products. But just putting up a web site and hoping people happen upon it is a lot like putting a FSBO sign on your lawn. You’ll get a few people to look, but not the traffic it will take to get the job done.

So what else does the internet have to offer us in our quest to rule the online world? Internet Article Directories! And what lovely services they are.

You can begin to share your expertise in most anything. If you can write it you can share it. As far as web site and product marketing, this is a very good thing (sorry Martha). A few neat things about these services are: free to use, traffic opportunity, diverse community and builds credibility.

Let’s take a closer look at those points.

Free To Use &ndash While it is true that there is no such thing as a free lunch, these services come pretty close. By free, I mean that there is no monetary cost involved to use the services. You will still have to sign up as a publisher (2 minutes max), create your article, submit your article, and wait for it to be published.

Traffic Opportunity &ndash There are literally thousands of people who see the articles submitted to these services, either by visiting the main page of the service or a web site that has reproduced your article. Your primary responsibility is to write effective copy to take advantage of this exposure.

Diverse Community &ndash It is pretty much understood that if you have 10 people looking for love, you’ll get 10 different ways to do it. The same holds true for these article services. There are so many different topics covered. Some are broken down into subtopics which can give you the opportunity to target a more focused audience.

Build Credibility &ndash The fact is this. If you are published writer, people are more likely to trust you and your judgment. If you can write accurate copy on a consistent basis you will build your credibility. The better you do this, the chances of other web masters republishing your article increase.

So where can you get started? I started with Article Alley. I just liked the way the site was set up, and the affiliate sites they had. But as always a visit to Google your favorite search engine should pull up some results. Here are a few to get you started.

But, in order for me to do a proper traffic analysis of there website I need to use a special webmaster toolbar offered through Alexa.com.

This toolbar is essential and a must have when it comes to locating super-affiliate’s and the reason why is because it reveals the ‘Traffic Ranking’ for that particular website you are viewing making it easier for you to tell the difference between the super-affiliate’s and the other website’s that are just getting by.

Now… for the numbers.

When I’m searching for an super-affiliate related to my Product, Service and/or any of the affiliate programs I am promoting via the search engines and I happen to come across a website that has a traffic ranking of 50,000 or lower using the Alexa toolbar to gauge the TR then these are the website’s where the super-affiliate’s reside and are the one’s I will want to contact with a business proposition.

As a general rule using website analysis, the lower the TR, the BETTER.

Why?

Because it means that particular website is receiving Lots… and Lots of traffic which is just what you’re looking for.

Now… that’s the general idea behind locating super-affiliate’s through website analysis and the search engines.

This next part I’m going to show you where to locate the super-affiliate’s with HUGE targeted mailing lists.

This is where you stand to benefit the most and could in turn make a substantial amount of money within the next 24 hours of your business proposition if accepted by the list owner.

The best places to locate an ‘Super-Affiliate’ with a HUGE mailing list are through eZine/Newsletter directories. I’ve listed a few of the Top directories below to save you the hassle of having to search for them yourself.

But… as a general rule I would have to say that any ezine/newsletter owner with a list size of 75,000 or more subscribers I would consider an ‘Super-Affiliate’.

Remember, this is just a general guide line.

Don’t discard the list owners with smaller lists. The more eZine/Newsletter owners you contact the greater your chances are of SUCCESS!

Well, its actually quite simple.

If you own your own Product and/or offer a Service, and this will even work if your an affiliate to someone else’s program, all you have to do is simply locate and approach related website and/or ezine/newsletter owners with a JV(Joint Venture) and/or business proposition offering them a reasonable share(percentage) of the profits if they were to accept your business proposal.
